I've previously tried Tweetie for Mac, Tweetdeck, Nambu, Socialite and Lounge, and Echofon for Mac is far and away the best desktop client out there, but there are some things that are very much needed to make it even greater.

1, Twitlonger integration (very important)
2, Ability to see who retweeted my tweets
3, Choice of other sites to upload photos to
4, Ability to upload videos to my chosen host
5, Ability to view Moby photos in viewer
6, Mute/Ignore users that tweet too much occasionally

Just a short few, but they'd help cement Echofon for Mac as the ultimate desktop Mac client.

I really, really, _really_ would love it if the Mac client supported Ping.fm integration like the iPhone client does. It's one of my favorite features, and one of the key features that pulled me away from Tweetie when they (unceremoniously and rudely) dropped it. Please and thank you!

I love Echofon—really, it’s become my favorite OS X twitter client. My one request would be to have it preserve newline characters in tweets; it’s a little weird to read posts as one long sentence, especially when the author's spent a little time formatting the text.

But really, truly epic work. Thanks so much.

On my Mac, I've used Tweetie, Seesmic and TweetDeck; recently, I've been using TweetDeck. I also briefly tested Socialite and Kiwi. I'm late to the Echofon party, but I'm very impressed; I'd love to use a native Mac client. I currently have about 34,000 'followers' and, thus far, Echofon makes my Twitter life much easier. Consider listing Echofon at MacUpdate, it didn't come up when I searched for 'Echofon.'

Just replaced tweetie for mac with echofon for mac! LOTS of things I love about echofon. But there are a couple features I would like to see added.

First off, the plain white BG color is a bit much. The ability to change that color would be great.

twitter name auto complete would be handy as well.

Your tweets retweeted does not show who actually did the retwetting but would be nice to see.

I am sure there will be more little things that come up but those are the few that stuck out right off the bat. otherwise I'm Luv'n it so far!!

Just downloaded the preview release. Pretty good, but some annoying features/aspects:
1) [this goes for all Echofon products] switching between timeline @, dm and search views marks all previous as 'read'. WHY? I usually have legit reason to want to switch between before I've finished reading all tweets.
2) Mac client: the auto 'mark all as read' when scroll to top is really problematic - I scroll up and down and like my first point don't want the software to decide that I've finished reading all without me triggering that deliberately.
3) Is there any way to synch between Mac clients without involving iPhone app?
4) love the slide out side-bar, but would like clicking on a #tag to also use that (although that would be less necessary if doing so didn't automatically 'mark all as read')
5) I understand the new iPhone app (version 3) changed the unread indication from blue background to a blue arrow. This has stopped me upgrading, as I like shading; however, it would be good for it to be consistent in any case whichever you finally settle on.
6) love the picture preview (although doesn't seem to work for all services - any way for user to add others?)

I almost switched to echofon, I have been looking for a Twitterrific replacement, with the same simplicity but more power.

Echofon has all that but fails at not letting me have the icon on the task bar and remove it from the dock. Just waiting for that to switch :)

I like it a lot, but it seems to mark all tweets as read if I scroll all the way to the top of the list. I'd prefer that none of them are marked read until I explicitly do so. Otherwise, a very nice start!

I have been using Echofon for a few weeks now and love it. I would really like to see lists included though and ideally i think there should be a wider array of display options (for example, i might want to be able to see my main 'home' timeline AND a list at the same time... i guess the holy grail is to replicate tweetdeck's capacity to define columns, but in a way that follows some of the lively design paradigms you've introduced with this version of echofon.

Just downloaded this today and it instantly replaced Tweetie 1.2 for Mac. Love it. I've been using Echofon on my iPhone for sometime now, but was hoping for a Mac version. Had no idea there was one until I did a search today.

I will be buying this when the final version is released.

I've been looking for a small unobtrusive app for Mac with all the extras since Twhirl became very 2008. This is cool. It would be great to have more keyboard shortcuts and have lists incorporated too... Add in some of the other suggestions, it would then be pretty close to perfect.

Just downloaded it. Looks great. Already very happy with Echofon for iPhone, so I'm hoping this will be just as good.

A couple of early observations:
-it would be great to have an option for a notification that would sit in the tray beside the clock (upper right hand corner of the screen)
-would also be great to have a feature to expand shortened web links before we click on them. To avoid hazzardous links.

Thanks again for the great Mac Echofon application, i've been using it for two months now, and i still love it!

I had to read here that i could complete @mentions using the tab key, which is a really great feature, it would make sense to make that a little bit more visible in the UI.

I found a small bug: the detail pane (when clicking on a user for example) doesn't seem to remember its width when resizing it, closing it, then reopening it. This is a nuisance especially when working with a small screen, where the detail pane is partly outside of the screen.

- A shortcut to show/hide window is URGENT!
- An interface a-la Twiterrific would be also nice, more like a widget, I mean.
